Art Day!!

The children had a fantastic day yesterday making their prototypes of the B of the Bang. They were thinking carefully about the techniques they enjoyed doing the most and the effects they liked the most on their art straws to help them choose which technique they want to use next Thursday when we make a KS1 B of the Bang.

Here are the finished prototypes hanging beautifully in Year 1:

Bonfire - 03/11/2010

Year one are learning about bonfire night and Guy Fawkes this half term. The topic had an exciting start yesterday as Mr Stock built a bonfire for Year 1 and Year 2 to watch!

Here are some pictures from the exciting event...

First Mr Stock lit the bonfire.
The fire got bigger...
and bigger...
and bigger.
We all watched with excitement and thought carefully about the sounds we could hear.

"It's popping", said Oliver.

"It's crackling", said Faith.
Soon all that was left of the bonfire were a few pieces of wood. The bonfire was dying out. We left Mr Stock to put out the bonfire safely...but not before Miss Roper had taken some lovely pictures of us to go on our topic books!

Florence Day - 19th October

We had a fantastic day! Thank you for all your creative ideas and hard work on costumes!

A class full of nurses and soldiers

The soldiers

The nurses

We changed the classroom into a hospital by moving tables and chairs...
We put white sheets onto the tables
We made the soldiers better
We made sashes
We made soup
and tasted our soup

We took other children from other classes around our hospital and explained how we made it.
